How to use the TikTok teleprompter, plus 10 scripts to paste

TikTok's teleprompter lives in the camera: tap +, tap Teleprompter on the right-side panel (open the small down arrow if you don't see it), paste your script and record. The words scroll on your screen but don't show in your video, and if the tool hasn't reached your account yet, TikTok's older Teleprompter effect or CapCut does the same job.

If you freeze or forget your next line the second you hit record, a teleprompter helps. TikTok now has one in the camera, though it hasn't reached every account and TikTok hasn't published instructions for it yet.

Our take: the script matters more than the teleprompter

A teleprompter stops you forgetting your lines. It can't make a script that sounds written sound like you. Write short lines the way you'd say them, read the whole thing out loud once, and the teleprompter becomes a safety net instead of something you stare at.

How to do teleprompter on TikTok

Creators started posting about a Teleprompter in TikTok's camera in September 2026. A search for "teleprompter" in TikTok's Help Center found nothing when we checked on 3 October, so these steps follow tutorials creators posted from 18 September to 2 October, like the walkthroughs by Katie and Gift. Buttons can differ a little between app versions.

  1. 1

    Open the camera

Tap + at the bottom of the screen, as if you're about to record. Don't record yet.

  2. 2

Find Teleprompter on the side panel

Check the column of buttons on the right and tap Teleprompter. If it isn't there, tap the small down arrow on that panel to see more tools.

  3. 3

    Add your script

A box opens near the top of the screen. Type or paste your script. If you picked a sound first, the box can show the song's lyrics instead, which helps with lip-syncs.

  4. 4

    Set the size and speed

Use the box's controls to change the text size and how fast it scrolls. Start slow.

  5. 5

    Record and post

Tap record and the text starts scrolling. When you post, the script isn't in the video. Only you saw it.

If you don't see it yet

No Teleprompter button in step 2? Then the tool probably hasn't reached your account. Creators who have it say TikTok is switching it on gradually, so update the app and check again in a few days. Until then, these work the same way: paste your script, then record.

TikTok's older Teleprompter effect

TikTok had a Teleprompter effect before the camera tool. Tutorials about it go back to at least 2024, and its effect page listed 9.3M videos on 3 October 2026. Many people call it the teleprompter filter, but it sits in Effects, not Filters.

  1. 1

    Open Effects

Tap +, then Effects at the bottom of the camera screen.

  2. 2

    Search for it

Tap the search icon and type "teleprompter". If several come up, try the first one.

  3. 3

    Paste and set it up

Tap the text area, paste your script, and pick a speed and text size.

  4. 4

    Record

The text scrolls while you film and doesn't show in the posted video.

CapCut or a teleprompter app

CapCut's phone app has its own teleprompter that scrolls your script over the camera view while you record. CapCut's help article from 3 February 2026 says the tool isn't in the desktop or web versions and suggests updating the app if you can't find it. Any teleprompter app works the same way: paste your script and record in the app, then upload the video to TikTok.

How to write a script for a teleprompter

  • One idea per line. Each line should fit in one breath, and the line break is your pause.
  • Hook first. The first line is the first thing people hear, so make it your most interesting sentence, not a hello.
  • Write the way you talk. Use contractions and everyday words. If you trip over a line out loud, rewrite it.
  • 50 to 80 words. That's roughly 20 to 30 seconds at a relaxed pace. Time yours once.
  • A spoken call to action. End on one specific question people can answer in a few words.

10 teleprompter scripts you can paste

Paste these as they are, one idea per line, and swap anything in [brackets] or any detail that isn't true for you. The opening lines of scripts 1 to 9 are copied word for word from ideas the CreatorZen app gives new creators who haven't picked a niche yet; the rest was written for this page. “If I could send one message to myself a year ago, this is what it would say.”

“There's one question people ask me more than any other, so here's the full answer, once and for all.”

  • New here? 3 things to know about me

“If this is your first time on my page, here are three things to know about me — and what you'll find here.”

1. Lifestyle: what this week taught me

  • Three things this week taught me, in the order I learned them.
  • One: if I haven't picked dinner by 2 p.m., dinner is cereal.
  • Every single time.
  • Two: 10 minutes of tidying before bed makes the morning so much calmer.
  • Three: I don't have to say yes to every Friday plan to have a good weekend.
  • Which one do you need to hear this week? Tell me in the comments.

2. Lifestyle: the morning routine I can keep

  • I used to be sure about this. Then something changed my mind, and this is what it was.
  • I thought a real morning routine meant waking up at 5 a.m. and doing it all.
  • Then I tried a version I could keep on my worst day.
  • Glass of water. Curtains open. Bed made. No phone until I'm dressed.
  • That's it.
  • What's the smallest part of your morning that makes the day better?

3. Fitness: the small win nobody saw

  • A small win from this week. Nobody gave me a medal for it, so I'm posting it here.
  • On Wednesday I really didn't want to go to the gym.
  • So I made a deal with myself: warm up, do 3 sets of one exercise, then I'm allowed to leave.
  • I stayed for all 45 minutes.
  • Walking through the door was the hard part.
  • What's your small win this week? Tell me so I can cheer.

4. Fitness: a message to my first-day self

  • If I could send one message to myself a year ago, this is what it would say.
  • Nobody at the gym is watching you.
  • Seriously. They're all busy counting their own sets.
  • You don't need new leggings or a perfect plan to start.
  • Log every session in your Notes app, even the bad ones.
  • And film your first workout. You'll want to see it later.
  • What would you tell yourself on day one?

5. Beauty: the question I get asked most

  • There's one question people ask me more than any other, so here's the full answer, once and for all.
  • How do I get my winged liner to match on both eyes?
  • I stopped finishing one eye before starting the other.
  • Now I draw both flicks first, check them in the mirror, then fill in.
  • One side looks off? I fix the flick, not the whole line.
  • Got a question for next time? Leave it in the comments.

6. Beauty: the shopping mistake I stopped making

  • Here's a mistake I made, what it cost me, and the one thing I do differently now.
  • I bought almost everything I saw in must-have videos.
  • It cost me a lot of money, a drawer of half-used palettes and 4 lipsticks in the same shade.
  • My rule now: finish a product before buying another one like it.
  • My makeup bag got smaller. I use everything in it now.
  • How full is your drawer of half-used stuff? Be honest.

7. Study: my goals for this month, out loud

  • Saying it out loud so I follow through: this is what I'm working on this month.
  • One: finish the stats unit before the midterm, not the night before.
  • Two: one past paper every Sunday, timed, at the kitchen table.
  • Three: phone in another room for my first 2 hours of study.
  • I'll report back at the end of the month.
  • What are you working on this month? Write it below so we both stick to it.

8. Art: an opinion about sketchbooks

  • This is an opinion about my work that most people disagree with. Hear me out before you reply.
  • I think sketchbooks should be messy.
  • Really messy.
  • Mine has coffee rings, crossed-out hands and pages I'll never show anyone.
  • Pretty sketchbook tours made me too scared to draw in mine.
  • Once I let it get ugly, I finally started using it.
  • Messy sketchbook or neat one? Tell me which camp you're in.

9. General: introduce yourself

  • If this is your first time on my page, here are three things to know about me — and what you'll find here.
  • One: I'm [your name], and I post about [your topic].
  • Two: I'm figuring this out as I go, so you'll see the real process, including the bad days.
  • Three: [one small, true fact about you].
  • If that sounds like your kind of page, stick around and say hi.

10. General: admit you're using a teleprompter

  • Confession: I'm reading this whole video off my screen.
  • The script scrolls at the top, right under my camera.
  • I used to restart videos like this 10 times because I forgot what came next.
  • Now I write it the way I talk, one line at a time, and just read.
  • Could you tell? Be honest in the comments.

How to read a teleprompter without looking like you're reading

Most of these come from creators who teach filming, like Suz, whose May 2026 video lists fixes for the reading voice a teleprompter brings out.

  • Read near the lens. The front camera sits at the top of an iPhone or Android phone, so keep the words near the top. TikTok's box opens there already.
  • Move the phone back. The farther away the screen, the less your eyes travel. Prop it at eye level on a shelf or a stack of books and make the text bigger.
  • Keep lines short. Short lines sit in the middle of the screen, so your eyes barely move.
  • Match the speed to you. Waiting for the next line? Speed up. Rushing? Slow down.
  • Pause after each line. Look into the lens for a beat. It reads as thinking.
  • Rehearse once and learn line 1 by heart. The run-through finds the words you trip on, and you open with eye contact.
  • Talk with your hands. Gesture like you would with a friend and let your face match the words.

Common teleprompter mistakes

  • Filming with the phone below your face. You'll look down at the words the whole time. Raise it to eye level.
  • Recording a script you've never said out loud. One read-through finds the stiff lines.
  • Counting on a reach boost. Some tutorials say TikTok pushes videos made with new features. We found no such promise from TikTok for the teleprompter, and its Help Center didn't mention the tool at all on 3 October 2026.

Questions people ask

How do you do teleprompter on TikTok?

Tap + to open the camera, then tap Teleprompter on the right-side panel, or the small down arrow first if it's hidden. Paste your script or pick a sound for its lyrics. Set the size and speed. Record. No button at all? Open Effects and search "teleprompter" for the older effect.

Does TikTok have a teleprompter?

Yes, two. A Teleprompter tool started showing up in TikTok's camera in September 2026 and hasn't reached every account yet. The older Teleprompter effect has been around since at least 2024. Neither had a Help Center article when we checked on 3 October 2026.

Why don't I have the teleprompter on TikTok?

Probably because it hasn't reached your account yet. Creators who have it say TikTok is rolling it out gradually, so update the app, check the side panel again in a few days and use the Teleprompter effect or CapCut until then.

Where is the teleprompter filter on TikTok?

It's TikTok's Teleprompter effect, which lives in Effects, not Filters. Tap +, tap Effects at the bottom of the camera screen and search "teleprompter". The newer tool sits on the camera's side panel instead.

What are some teleprompter tricks for beginners?

Read from the top of the screen, close to the lens. Hold the phone farther away and make the text bigger. Write one short idea per line, start with a slow scroll and pause after each line. Rehearse once. Learn the first line by heart so you open with eye contact.

Will people see the teleprompter text in my video?

No. The script shows only on your screen while you record, with both the new tool and the older effect. Viewers can still spot moving eyes, so keep lines short and look up between them.

How we made this page. We wrote this guide and its 10 scripts with AI help and edited them for beginner creators. Steps checked on 3 Oct 2026 against TikTok's Help Center (no teleprompter article yet), CapCut's help center and creator tutorials on TikTok: 18 Sep to 2 Oct 2026 for the camera tool, 2024 to 2026 for the effect. We haven't tested the new tool on our own phone yet. The nine starter-deck hooks are copied word for word from the app; everything else was written for this page.
