24 first post ideas for new creators

Start with three easy posts: who you are, a small win from this week, and the question people ask you most. Below are all 24 ideas CreatorZen gives a new creator who hasn’t picked a niche yet, each with its exact hook and honest minutes, from 15-minute posts to two-hour ones.

When the account is brand new, filming isn’t the hard part. Deciding what the first posts should be is. These are the 24 ideas the CreatorZen app hands every new creator who skips niche setup. They work for almost anyone, and that’s the point of week one: you’re showing up, not perfecting a strategy.

10 low-energy first posts

Each of these takes 15 to 35 minutes and needs nothing but your phone and what already happened this week. On a tired day, the 15-minute small win still counts as a post.

5 high-energy posts for a free afternoon

These take more than an hour because you film across a whole morning or day. Save them for a day off, and don’t start with them. A first post that never gets finished helps nobody.

Your first week: three easy days and two medium ones

Five posts in seven days is plenty for a start. Two empty days are there on purpose: reply to comments, look at what other people in your niche post, rest.

If your first post is on TikTok

Film the “New here?” idea as a 20-second video: say the three things out loud and show one quick clip for each. You don’t need a trend or a sound for a first post. You need people to know what they’ll get if they follow.

  • Say the first line within the first second. The hook above is written to be said, so read it as it is.
  • Film in daylight near a window. Light matters more than the phone.
  • Post three videos before you judge anything. One video tells you nothing about your account.
  • If talking to camera feels hard, read from a teleprompter. Our teleprompter guide has scripts you can paste.

Turn any idea into your niche

These ideas are generic on purpose. Swap one word and they become yours. “My setup: the things I use every day” turns into:

NicheThe same idea, made yours
FitnessWhat’s in my gym bag, and the one thing I never train without. More in fitness content ideas.
BeautyMy everyday makeup bag, only what I use daily. More in beauty content ideas.
ArtMy sketching kit for drawing outside. More in content ideas for artists.
StudentsMy desk during exam week, honest version. More in content ideas for students.
LifestyleThe five things on my nightstand and why. More in lifestyle content ideas.

Questions people ask

What should my first post be as a new content creator?

An introduction: who you are, what you’ll post about and one thing people wouldn’t guess about you. It’s easy to make, and it tells anyone who finds your page later why they should follow. The “New here? 3 things to know about me” idea above takes about 30 minutes as a carousel.

What should be your first post on TikTok?

A short introduction video works well: say three things about yourself and show a clip for each. Keep it under 30 seconds, film in daylight, and post two or three more videos before you decide what works.

How many posts should I make in my first week?

Three to five. A pace you can keep next week matters more than a big first week. Our guide to posting consistently explains how to set a minimum you can hold on bad weeks.

Do I need a niche before I start posting?

No. Post for a couple of weeks first and notice which posts you enjoyed making. A niche usually shows up in what you keep coming back to. When you’re ready, the niche pages in our content ideas section go deeper.

Can I use these ideas on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Every short-video idea works on all three. The carousels work on Instagram and as photo posts on TikTok. Most ideas also have a text version for X, Threads or LinkedIn, noted next to each one.

How we made this page. Every idea in the dark boxes is copied word for word from CreatorZen’s starter deck (version 1), the set the app gives new creators who haven’t picked a niche yet. The deck was written once and approved by our founder; it isn’t generated per person. The first-week plan, the niche examples and the answers on this page were written for this page.
