Don't try to post all 31. Pick three or four a week, and start with the dates your followers will notice. Every idea has a twist for a few niches and an energy tag, so you'll know the effort before you start: low takes up to 15 minutes, medium about half an hour, high an hour or more. Christmas week gets the shortest ideas. Dec 24, 25, 26 and 31 each take 15 minutes or less, because you'll have better things to do. If it's your first month of posting, start with your first posts.

Week 2 (Dec 7-13): the last nights of Hanukkah
Hanukkah ends at nightfall on Saturday, Dec 12, so if you posted a Story each night, the carousel goes up that day. Most ideas this week take 30 minutes or less, and the handmade gift on Saturday is the long one.

Film
- 1Clip 1 with 'Expectation' on screen: a 6 a.m. run in the snow, a full glam look every day, a sketchbook page a day

“Worth it or not: every single thing I bought for this hobby in 2026.”

Week 3 (Dec 14-20): the last full week before Christmas

Week 4 (Dec 21-27): Christmas week, from the solstice to Boxing Day
Monday is the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year north of the equator. In Australia it's the longest, and it falls on Dec 22 there. From Christmas Eve on, every idea takes 15 minutes or less. Boxing Day is Saturday, Dec 26, in the UK, Canada and Australia, and Kwanzaa runs from Dec 26 to Jan 1. Week 5 (Dec 28-31): your year in review and New Year's Eve

- 2Write 'last one of 2026' on it, with the time
- 3Post it before you go out, then put the phone away
Caption: See you in 2027. Thanks for being here this year.
Christmas content ideas
You don't need a big tree or a family photo shoot to post at Christmas. Only the handmade gift takes an hour. The first five ideas come from the calendar above, and the last two work on any day of the season.
- A gift box from your niche (Dec 24). Fill it with things you really use, then wrap it on camera, sped up.
- Seven seconds of Christmas morning (Dec 25). One clip, no edits.
- The holiday dinner skit (Dec 8). Act out the questions your relatives ask about what you post, playing both parts yourself and switching with a scarf or a pair of glasses.
- A gift you make in an hour (Dec 12). The making is the video.
- An old Christmas photo, recreated (Dec 27), with something from your niche in your hands this time.
- 12 days of tiny tips: one tip a day as a Story from Dec 13 to Dec 24, saved to a Highlight on Christmas Eve.
- A card made your way. Draw it or photograph it, and film the process in 15 seconds.
New Year content ideas
The last days of the year are the easiest to fill. Your camera roll already holds the material, and several of these ideas start with scrolling back through it. Dec 28 to 31 cover the basics; the last four are extras for the turn of the year.
- React to your first post of the year (Dec 28). Your app's green screen effect does the hard part.
- A recap in the style of Spotify Wrapped (Dec 29), built only from numbers you counted yourself.
- A note to open next December (Dec 30). Seal it on camera.
- The last thing you made in 2026 (Dec 31), posted before the night starts.
- The unposted 2026: 10 photos you took this year and never shared, each with one line on why it stayed in your camera roll.
- What you learned this year, written as advice for someone who starts posting in January. Keep it to five lines.
- Your first post of 2027. Film it on Dec 30 and post it on Jan 1, a Friday.
- A 30-day challenge from Jan 1. Our 30-day posting challenge gives every prompt a 10-minute version for tired days.
How to keep posting through the holidays
By Christmas week you'll probably have less time and more people around. These moves keep you posting without spending the holidays editing:
- Film ahead on Dec 19 or 20. Anything that doesn't depend on the day itself can be filmed early, like the Dec 22 carousel and the Dec 24 gift clip. Our batching guide walks through a full session.
- Keep the big days tiny. The ideas for Dec 24, 25, 26 and 31 take 15 minutes or less. One clip and one line is a finished post.
- Ask before you film family. Holidays put other people in your frame, so ask first, and keep children's faces out unless their parents say yes.
- Schedule if your app lets you, so a post goes up while you're at the table.
- Skip a day when you need to. Pick up at the next idea, or grab a quick one from our easy content ideas.
Questions people ask
What should I post in December?
Post around the dates your followers notice, like Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's Eve, and fill the other days with simple posts from your niche. You don't need all 31 ideas above: three or four a week is enough. Put the longer shoots on the weekends before Christmas and save the 10-minute posts for Christmas week itself. For a pace you can keep into January, see how to post consistently.
What are some easy Christmas content ideas?
Wrap a gift box full of things from your niche, post seven unedited seconds of Christmas morning, recreate an old holiday photo or act out the questions relatives ask about your posts. They take 10 to 30 minutes each, and the Christmas section above shows which day each one fits.
Should I post on Christmas Day?
Only if you want to. A seven-second clip or one photo with a line is enough, and so is posting nothing. If your app lets you schedule posts, film something on Dec 20 and let it go up on its own while you're at the table.
What should I post on New Year's Eve?
Something you can make in 10 to 15 minutes before the evening starts, like a photo of the last thing you made in 2026 with one line about your year. Post it in the afternoon so you're not editing at midnight, and save the bigger recaps for the days between Christmas and New Year, like the Dec 28 and Dec 29 ideas above.
When is Hanukkah in 2026?
Hanukkah 2026 starts at sundown on Friday, Dec 4, and ends at nightfall on Saturday, Dec 12. The first candle is lit on the evening of Dec 4 and the eighth on the evening of Dec 11.
When is the winter solstice in 2026?
The December solstice is on Monday, Dec 21, 2026, at 20:50 UTC, which is 3:50 p.m. in New York and 8:50 p.m. in London. It's the shortest day of the year north of the equator. In Australia it's the longest day, and the solstice falls on the morning of Tuesday, Dec 22 there.
